CORRECT OPERATION

Idle that is properly set will allow you to place your car's transmission in DRIVE or 1st gear, with the foot brake applied, and not allow the engine to stall. If your car is equipped with air conditioning, activating it during this test should reduce the idle speed further, but not enough to stall the engine.
